The artist
Kunnart
Kunnart paints the hours that do not announce themselves: late light on a compound wall, a lagoon just before the city turns its lamps on, cloth arranged for a ceremony that has not started.
Style
The paintings sit between observation and atmosphere. Figures are present, but they are rarely portraits in the formal sense. Colour carries the emotion — indigo, clay, gold, and the blue of water after heat. Brushwork stays visible. Nothing is finished into gloss.
Inspiration
Lagos is the source, not the backdrop: shorelines, parlours, markets, and the private rooms people actually live in. Collectible objects come from the same attention. A vessel or a weave is treated as a small painting you can walk around.
The studio
Work is made one piece at a time and sold directly. Commissions are accepted when the wall, the light, and the season allow. Visitors are received by appointment.
The portrait and biography on this page are prototype copy, ready to be replaced with Kunnart’s own photograph and words.
Checkout uses Paystack or a bank transfer to the studio.
Commissions begin with a note, a size, and a budget.
